Being out on a summer evening, feeling the warm air, taking in the fireworks to celebrate America’s most patriotic holiday, is our favorite way to spend the 4th of July. There’s that special feeling we all get when we come across a gorgeous view; the reward is more than the main event. Read on for some of our favorite Peninsula view points for watching fireworks explode all over the bay area peninsula.
Baywood Park, San Mateo
Baywood Park is located on a hill overlooking the entire bay, city, and San Mateo bridge. You’ll have unobstructed views of the sky. There’s also plenty of space to spread out, so you won’t have to worry about being crowded.
In addition to the great views, Baywood Park also has a number of other amenities that make it a great place to watch fireworks. There are restrooms, picnic tables, and a playground, so you can be comfortable and entertained while you wait for the show to start.
The park is also close to downtown San Mateo, so you can easily walk or bike there if you don’t want to drive. And if you’re looking for something to do before or after the fireworks, there are plenty of restaurants and shops in the area.
Redwood Shores Bay Trail, Redwood City
Redwood Shores Bay Trail is a great place to watch fireworks in Redwood City and offers more level ground than any other popular viewing area.. Tree shaded spots dot miles of this wide trail that borders the water.
This portion of the Bay Trail is also close to downtown Redwood City, so you can access food, beverage, and retail before settling down for the fireworks show.
Burlingame State Park, Burlingame
One of the most popular places to watch fireworks in San Mateo County is Burlingame State Park. Just be sure to get there early, as the park can get crowded on the Fourth of July.
